It will be 3 years until the next one. My calendar says it is Buddhist Ancestor Day today too. I've been hearing about people's parents sick and about to die a lot lately. It is sad to me that our memories of departed ancestors can sometimes be easier to cherish than the interactions with live relatives.
Making it to the end of this week feels like the culmination of the last half year, if not the last 20 or so years. I'm empty nested. I'm tan. I'm hot all the time now--still want to announce it like a Golden Girl, but try not to. Summer is over.
School, work, the election, apple trees; the signs of fall are here. I'm in danger of sinking into Reality TV and Kate Bush YouTubes instead of focusing on something productive. But maybe after a weekend off I can get some new direction.
I've got a lot of instruments but not the discipline to learn to play.
